Action Saturday

Within the next few weeks college campuses around America will be buzzing on Saturdays like today. These major universities will gather students, parents, and alumni, for traditional rival football games. The attention and awe we give to these games is not surprising. These games are the antithesis of what we all must do...take action toward accomplishments.

The attraction of football is prevalent because it reminds us of the rivalries we have within us and with others. We can all be doing better mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and with others. We can take every assessment known to man and still realize the same thing...we need to challenge ourselves to get and remain better.

Take Action

Football players are organized examples of what each of us should be doing with our perspective. The players get coaches (mentors) and follow their lead in learning how to master the art of football (apprentice). They take action to practice, perform, and evaluate their performance. Whether it's Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, USC, or Notre Dame, each player is doing exactly what we out to be doing -- taking action on what we know will improve ourselves.

Beyond perspective and action, the truly accomplished individuals are practiced at evaluating how they're doing. Through visual or mental recall, we are able to identify what we did, what we could do better, and plan for improvement. You and I can do this, through an "evening review." It doesn't need film footage, but an answer to a relatively simple question: What could we have done better today?

For today, take action on what you would like to accomplish. Then, at the end of the day, simply check to see what you need to do better next time.
