Three Reasons You Struggle

My Life Journey has not been easy. I struggled with many things: disability, losing a father, turning away from my dreams, a failed marriage, and more than I can write in one sentence. Through personal experience and research, I have found that going through struggle comes a better understanding of who we really are.

Through all the knowledge I've gained, I've come to know three reasons why you struggle.

You struggle because you don't know yourself

Far too much of your sense of who you are has been based on what others think about you. Basing your sense of who you are on other people's views is seldom accurate or helpful. When you know yourself other thoughts become background noise.

You struggle because you don't believe in yourself

Most often you encourage and believe in others more than you believe in yourself. If your best friend was struggling with the same thing(s) you are going through, what would you tell him or her? You believe in that person. You know they can do it. Whatever the encouragement, you should give to yourself first.

You struggle because you stop at resistance

Whatever direction you go in your life there will be resistance. It may come from your work, friends, family, and even your significant other. You and I have come to believe that resistance in is a sign to give up or it's not "meant to be." Muscle builds on resistance. Your human abilities grow through resistance. Resistance is the sign that what you want may not be easy, but it's certainly worth it.

Struggle is an internal obstacle. Clarity comes with knowing who you are, believing in the direction you're headed, and moving through resistance. Moving through struggle makes you better for yourself and the entire world.
